Hi Everyone,
I'm trying to figure out how to extract pine oils to use with my candles from pine needles. The project concerns recycling Christmas trees and extract oil, while the wood gets chipped for mulch use. I've encountered three paths so far:
1) Pestle and mortar grind and soaked in oil for a couple weeks
2) Distilling using vapour. This one results in hydrosol and very little amounts of oils (according to this video, 0.25% of volume)
3) using an alcohol solvent. I'm not well-versed enough in chemistry and not sure if I can handle this (or if its even worth attempting)
If anyone has tips, I would greatly appreciate. Thank you!?
